FAQ
Canvas print questions.
Can I print a canvas from a photo on my phone?
Yes. Upload the highest-resolution version of your photo that you have, and we will review it before printing. Phone photos often work well for canvas, but screenshots, social media downloads, or heavily compressed images may not enlarge cleanly. If we see a quality issue, we will let you know before production.
What is the difference between a canvas print and a photo print?
A photo print is produced on photographic paper and is usually framed behind glass or placed in an album. A canvas print is printed on canvas material and is designed as wall art. Canvas has more texture and can be wrapped around a frame so it is ready to hang. Non-photo-paper canvas jobs route into the canvas workflow, not the photo print workflow.
Are canvas prints ready to hang?
Yes, if you choose the wrapped canvas option. Our standard finished option is wrapped on a 1-inch frame and ready to hang. We can also quote unwrapped canvas if you only want the printed canvas material, but unwrapped canvas is not ready to hang.
What does “wrapped on a 1-inch frame” mean?
A wrapped canvas is stretched around a 1-inch frame so the image becomes a finished wall piece. The front-facing size is the size you choose, and the canvas continues around the sides of the frame. This is the best choice when you want a finished piece for a wall, office, gift, or display.
What is a mirrored edge?
A mirrored edge extends the outer part of your image around the sides of the canvas. It is usually the safest choice because it helps preserve the look of the front image while still giving the wrapped sides a finished appearance. Keep important faces and text away from the outer edge area.
Can I choose a solid color edge instead?
Yes. In addition to mirrored edge, we can finish the canvas with a solid color edge, usually black or white. This can work well when the photo has important detail near the edges or when you want a cleaner gallery-style border.
What size is the finished canvas?
The size you choose is the front-facing print area. If the canvas is wrapped, additional image or border area is needed around the outside edge so the canvas can wrap around the frame. Edging adds a 2-inch border around the finished print, so important faces, text, logos, or details should stay away from the outside edge.
Can you make custom canvas sizes?
Yes. We can produce custom canvas sizes up to 50 inches on the shortest side. Custom canvas sizes are priced by square footage, and the final size refers to the front-facing print area.
What canvas sizes do you offer?
Standard sizes in the current canvas module include 16 x 20, 24 x 36, 30 x 40, and 36 x 48, with custom sizes available. The module currently starts 16 x 20 at $49.99.
Can you help adjust my photo for canvas?
Yes. If your image needs setup or adjustment before printing, we can review it and quote the needed work. The canvas workflow includes a setup path for additional file work when needed.
Will my photo be cropped?
Possibly. Canvas wraps require extra image area around the edges, especially when using a mirrored or wrapped edge. We will help review sizing and edge treatment before production so important details are not lost.
What kind of images work best for canvas?
High-resolution photos with good lighting and enough space around the subject work best. Family photos, wedding and engagement photos, landscapes, senior portraits, sports memories, pets, vacation photos, and decorative artwork are all good candidates.
Can I use a Canva design for a canvas print?
Yes. If you design your canvas artwork in Canva or another design tool, download the best-quality print file available and upload it to us. For canvas, it is especially important to confirm the final size and keep text or important details away from the wrap area.
How long do canvas prints take?
Turnaround depends on size, file readiness, framing, and store workload. Some jobs may qualify for faster review, but canvas should usually be treated as a production item that may need file review and finishing time.
Where are canvas prints produced?
Canvas prints are produced locally inside PostalAnnex of Eagle. Canvas production routes to the HP Latex 730.
